Hunter BreastScreen
Hunter BreastScreen is part of BreastScreen Australia, a national program for the early detection of breast cancer. Established in 1989, Hunter BreastScreen provides free, high quality screening mammograms for women aged 50 to 69.
Clinical trials have shown that regular mammograms reduce deaths from breast cancer. Mammograms can detect breast cancer when it is very small, when treatment is most effective.
With a Screening and Assessment Centre based at the NBN Telethon Mater Institute, Calvary Mater Newcastle, Waratah, Hunter BreastScreen also utilises three mobile units to cover an area of 62, 550 km2.
Over 120, 000 women have had at least one mammogram with Hunter BreastScreen. To make an appointment for your free screening mammogram, please call 13 20 50.
