ENTERPRISE AGREEMENTS 2009
ALL STAFF NOTICE

Calvary Mater Newcastle (CMN) and the relevant unions have come to agreement on a number of Enterprise Agreements to cover the employment conditions of staff at CMN.

There now needs to be a vote to accept the Agreements and all CMN staff covered by each agreement are entitled to vote. Voting for the Agreements will occur as follows:

Time:              Tuesday, 22nd December 2009 from 7.00am to 5.00pm
Location:         Main Foyer of Hospital, Level 3, opposite the “Amigo To Go” shop

Staff are invited to attend during the times outlined above to cast a vote. Any staff member wishing to vote MUST show their ID badge to obtain a ballot paper. Each employee will be given one voting paper, which they then need to complete and place in the appropriate ballot box.

If any staff member cannot vote on 22nd December, they can attend the HR Dept (Level 4 North Block) between 2.00pm and 4.00pm on Monday 21st December to vote. Alternatively, any staff member who wishes to vote but cannot attend at the scheduled times can cast a postal vote. If you wish to cast a postal vote, please contact the HR Dept by 18th December 2009. All postal votes must be received by the HR Dept by COB Wednesday 23rd December.

The agreements to be voted on are:

The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Nurses Agreement
(for all Nursing staff)

The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Health Employees Agreement
(for all staff in classifications covered by the HSU that are not included in the Professional and Associated Staff Agreement and Hospital Scientists Agreement)

The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Professional and Associated Staff Agreement
(for all Professional and Associated staff such as Allied Health staff, Psychologists, Medical Records Managers and Biomedical Engineers)

The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Hospital Scientists Agreement
(for all Hospital Scientists and Medical Physicists)

The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Medical Officer Agreement
(for all Medical Staff in classifications covered by the HSU - excludes CMOs, Staff Specialists and Clinical Academics)

The NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations' Staff Specialist Agreement
(for all Staff Specialists)

Key points of the Enterprise Agreements are:

- All current terms and conditions of NSW Public Health Awards will be retained in the new enterprise agreements as far as legally possible;
- In those cases where the National Employment Standards (prescribed by the Fair Work Act 2009) are more generous than the NSW Public Health Awards, these more generous provisions will be included in the Enterprise Agreements;
- Both the HSU and the NSW Nurses' Association have supported the development of these agreements as the best way to protect employees' existing conditions in the new federal industrial relation environment.
- Voting is not compulsory. Whether an agreement will be approved or not is determined by a simple majority of votes cast by staff for each agreement.

At present, there are no agreements for Career Medical Officers, Clinical Academics or Trades staff and staff in these classifications will not be participating in the ballot.
